I spent my first visit to the allotments last week exploring them so that I could understand the layout and what I might expect to photograph as my project evolves over the coming months.
Here are a few more images that I made:
On my first visit to the allotment, it struck me that it was a small world of sheds. So much variety in design. Of course, at this time of the year there is not a great deal of vegetation and plants to see – I’ll be fascinated to see how the appearance of these sheds changes as we move through spring and into summer.
This is the initial post in this photo-project about Armitage Bridge Allotments in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. I started the project with my first visit to the allotments on Friday, 27 March 2015.
I expect to revisit the allotments every 10-14 day over the coming year and document the changes over the seasons.
My first visit was largely about understanding the layout and geography of allotments. I expect that the project will be a fascinating experience as it develops over the coming twelve months.
Here are some of my first images.
